Street Food - Whole Pig Roast in Bali - Babi Guling! (WARNING: Includes Whole Pig Roasting)

Babi guling, or roast Balinese style pig, is a delicacy and one of the most popular food to eat in Bali, Indonesia. Today was a special opportunity because we went to a home where they roast the pigs for orders - most people order their pigs for events or family parties.

We got to see the entire process of preparing and roasting the whole pigs. They fill it was paste, brush the pig with coconut water to make it extra crispy. Then they roasted it over a very hot fire for an hour.

Unfortunately, we hadn't pre-ordered a pig, nor could we eat a whole one, but next time I will order one from them!

Instead, we headed to Warung Babi Guling Gerenceng to eat a street food version of babi guling. It would have been better if it was very hot, but it was still tasty, and I’m still dreaming about their sambal!

Price - 25,000 IDR ($1.84) per plate
Extra portion size - 40,000 IDR ($2.94) per plate
